Meet Dr. Zand

Originally from California, Dr. Kaveh Zand completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis and later moved to Maryland to attend The Johns Hopkins University where he obtained his Masters degree in Biotechnology. Dr. Zand then completed his dental training at the University of Maryland followed by a General Practice Residency program at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. His continued interest in the complexities of root canal therapy led him to further pursue his training as a specialist in the field of Endodontics at Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

After completion of his training, Dr. Zand returned to the D.C. area to practice with a passion for preserving the natural dentition. He understands that root canal therapy can often be a stressful prospect for many patients, so when he opened his private practice, District Endodontics, he did so with one very important goal in mind; To create a relaxing and non-threatening environment with amenities and technology designed to make every patient experience pleasant. He strives to provide the highest standard of care while eliminating the negative stigma associated with root canals. As of 2020, Dr. Zand has achieved Diplomate status with the American Board of Endodontics, and holds active memberships with the American Dental Association, and the DC Dental Society.

In his spare time he enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines, playing tennis, and spending time with his family and friends.

What does it mean to be a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics?

The American Association of Endodontists sponsors the American Board of Endodontics. Founded in 1956, the American Board of Endodontics is the only certifying board for the specialty of endodontics and is recognized by the American Dental Association.

The activities of the ABE conform to the “Requirements for Recognition of Dental Specialties and National Certifying Boards for Dental Specialists” of the American Dental Association Council on Dental Education and Licensure.

The purpose of the ABE is to assure the public that the endodontists it certifies have demonstrated exceptional knowledge, skill, and expertise in the specialty of endodontics and to progressively raise the quality of patient care.

ABE Diplomate status is awarded to qualified Candidates who have demonstrated diagnostic skill, clinical proficiency, and professional judgment of a level that promotes the highest quality of care for patients. They have taken an examination administered by a panel of experts of their peers and have demonstrated an exemplary level of knowledge, understanding, and clinical expertise in endodontics.
